Brexit Update

On the 23rd of January 2020, the EU withdrawal agreement finally achieved ratification. Though viewed as a mere formality, the EU will vote on the agreement on the 30th January where they need a qualified majority from members of the EU parliament. This means that the UK will officially leave the EU at 2300hrs on the 31st of January 2020 but will enter a transition period currently lasting until 31st of December 2020 while a full trade agreement will be negotiated. During this period, the UK must still comply with any directives and will continue to make contributions to the EU. In its present form, the transition period can be extended, if agreed by July 2020, to allow longer negotiations towards a full trade agreement. As it stands, for companies trading with the EU, there will be no change in the way you move your goods until at least the 31.12.2020.

MGC will continue to support you throughout this process and will strive to keep you updated with any further or new developments.
